INFO:
❌MYTH: You can tell your baby is hungry when they start crying. ✅TRUTH: While a crying baby may be hungry, by the time they’re crying they’ve likely been hungry for a while. Now they’re HANGRY 😅😈🤦🏼‍♀️ A crying baby is a disorganized baby. Though they will often take the nipple if given, it is NOT a good habit to feed a baby when in this state. They’re more likely to eat too quickly, eat too much, or not latch effectively (to breast OR bottle). Understanding hunger cues is a KEY part of understanding what we call responsive feeding. It is essential for breastfeeding success! 🟢EARLY HUNGER CUES (optimal time to feed): ✨REM sleep (eye movement while asleep) ✨Mouth motions towards end of sleep ✨Rooting (head bobbing) 🟡MID (“ACTIVE”) HUNGER CUES (ok to feed, but may need some calming first): ✨Hand to mouth ✨Looking for breast ✨Fidgetingu002Ffussy 🛑LATE HUNGER CUES (✋🏻STOP, ALWAYS calm baby first before feeding): ✨Cryingu002Fscreaming ✨Red faceu002Fbody ✨Agitatedu002Ffrantic Mastering responsive feeding is a PILLAR of my FREE prenatal planning session, included with 6 or 12 week coaching programs if you register while pregnant. 3 more spots left for $400 off 12 weeks AND $300 off 6 weeks if you book by 3u002F31!!
